This historic Domaine has been producing Beaujolais wines since 1850. The Domaine stretches over 34 ha divided over many of the Cru Classe villages within Beaujolais. The beautiful vaulted cellar is still the hub of the winery. The Sambadier family have owned Manoir du Carra for many generations and take an active role in the vineyards and in the cellar. The vines are tended to by hand and at harvest the bunches are picked by hand, and sorted on entry to the winery to check the individual grape quality. Tasting Note: "Ruby red in colour with redcurrant, cherry and flint on the nose. Classic red berry and mineral flavours are well balanced by the medium body and fresh style."
This is the first Pinot Noir that we have imported directly to the UK and we're delighted that it comes from Matthew van Heerden along with his superb Chardonnay. Like the Chardonnay, only 3 barrels were produced and we've brought just 240 bottles to the UK. Made with fruit from Elgin which is rapidly establishing itself as one of the cooler climates in South Africa this is a delicious, crunchy Pinot that has an enticing savoury edge.
Our best loved Malbec is possibly even juicier, freshier and tastier still!. Bright on the nose with ripe blackberry plum fruit and sweet spice. The palate is silky and warming with more black fruit and cherries. The wine is vibrant with an alluring blend of fruit along with clove, pepper and cinnamon spice finished off with well-structured integrated tannins. A great wine with a fresh finish.
A deeply coloured, medium-bodied, spicy red with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, perfumed, fresh Nero d'Avola. The palate combines warm, juicy red fruit flavours with savoury, lightly smoky characters, a hint of bitter chocolate and nip of tannin on the finish...Brilliant with Lamb and most red meats. Great Value and organic!!!
An untraditional style, where elegance and true character prevail over colour and intensity. Gently compelling with aromas of the earth and stony minerality. The palate includes red fruits, cherries, a hint of spice and creamy refreshing acidity. This is pure, elegant, restrained Cinsault..
Wonderfully lifted perfumed nose with bright fleshy raspberry and crushed blackcurrant fruit and a touch of savoury gaminess and fresh almond smoothness on the finish. A great partner to rich and savoury red meat dishes such as salt-marsh lamb, or a gutsy bean casserole.
Deep red colour with violet hues, an intense aroma of ripe-red fruits with floral notes, accompanied by vanilla and tobacco imparted by oak. Once in the mouth, this wine is perceived round, with good character and full body, soft tannins that grant this malbec great complexity and a memorable finish.
Spicy red and black fruits including sweet cherries and plums are evident on the nose and on the palate together with the rich, sweet raisins that you would expect from Amarone. The finish is long with both fruit and spice. The tannins are soft and the wine lovely and smooth.
With Pojega we try to avoid any overripe character or jamminess, the philosophy is to make a classic Valpolicella Ripasso. The 2013 is in this style; floral and fruit rich on the nose, medium bodied on the palate with concentration but no heaviness
Tom and the Peloton is named after Tom Simpson, one of Britain`s greatest cyclists who was the first British rider to wear the Yellow Jersey and compete in the Tour de France in 1962. Sadly, during the thirteenth stage of the Tour of 1967 Tom collapsed and died during an ascent of Mont Ventoux at the age of 29. To this day there stands a memorial to Tom on the roadside where he died. A portion of the proceeds of each bottle sold is donated to the Simpson family to help maintain the memorial. New in, this is a charming blend of Syrah and Grenache from Ventoux. The wine is easy drinking with ripe fleshy red fruit and a hint of sweet spice.
Founded in 1957, the owner started by delivering bottles to the town on his bicycle! It now occupies an enigmatic building in Laguardia, still in the control of the original founders. With family ties to Martin Cendoya, the wine has gone from strength to strength, encompassing environmental management as one of its core objectives. This means sustainable practises, and an ethos of recycling and re-using where possible! 120 hectares of vines are spread across some of the best sites in the Rioja Alavesa, giving wines of great character and depth. This is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, and 20% Grenache, spending just 6 months in barrel and 4 in bottle. It is dark cherry in colour, with soft black fruit flavours, touched with vanilla and spice.
Understated and elegant wines from Rioja Alta. Beautifully crafted and far from ostentatious, blending the best of tradition with fine modern practice. Savoury aromas alongside lifted, perfumed notes of violet and blackberry. This wine shows all the elegance of the variety - tight and concentrated with spice, fine tannins, great complexity and purity.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 in John Platter Guide 2019. "Quintessential New World cab, 13 (93) ticks the boxes; big & muscular tending towards fruit ripeness & beguiling generosity. But also purity & restraint. Still youthful promising many years of development." Score: 4.5 stars
This long established estate in the south of Chianti Classico consistently produces very classic and quietly impressive wines. The vineyards are all mature (25 years plus), relatively high altitude and very well sited. Low yields are very much the order of the day and vinification is traditional and very conducive to emphasising classic Sangiovese flavours and the terroir of the region around Berardenga.Warm spicy nose with ripe plums and savoury notes. Fresh yet generous palate with good structure and attractive cherry and plum fruit.
Goes well with all meat dishes however prepared. A perfect partner to a Leg of New Season Welsh Lamb stuffed with wild garlic, rosemary and anchovies. Tempranillo (75%), Garnacho (15%), Graciano and Mazuelo (10%), Colour:Vibrant red leading slightly towards amber. Nose: Light fresh texture with notes of vanilla and dried berry aromas. Taste: Rich, very dry, smooth, developed. Firm tannins and good balance.

With medium tannins, and rich mouth-filling dark fruit flavours enhanced by a hint of oak, this wine exhibits a long-lasting finish.Grapes: 83% Zinfandel, 17% Petite Sirah
