Ermes Mansue is located in Treviso and was founded as recently as 2008. They have 305 hectares of vineyards planted to Glera, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and are something of a sparkling wine specialist.

Made from 100% Glera, it has a bright yellow straw colour with fine bubbles, fine and delicate foam. The fruity and flowery scents are clearly perceived, with green apple and nuances of acacia flowers and jasmine. On the palate, it is fresh, well structured and pleasantly persisting.

Made by the renowned St Emilion wine maker Pascal Delbeck, this sparkling rose is fermented in barrels, and left on its lees (the residual yeast) for five months before bottling. The result is a soft, fine bubbled, well balanced sparkling rosé.

Made from 100% Merlot, this sparkling rosé is delicious on its own or with strawberries and summer fruit puddings.

Intense gold with persistent fine mousse. The nose opens with floral rose notes and warms to toasted brioche. The mouth is full and fresh with spicy floral notes (wallflower or nasturtium), underpinned with candied yellow fruit. The finish is long and dry. This is a classy mid-term vintage from Pol Roger that will continue to improve for at least 5 years in bottle and in magnum for 10-12 years.

The exact composition of this Cuvée is a family secret but it is likely that Pinot Noir dominates 70-80% of the blend with the rest being Chardonnay. The grapes are all from Grand Cru vineyards which were under vine during Churchill’s lifetime and it is only made in the very best vintages. The 1998 vintage shows all the hallmarks of a truly outstanding year with high natural sugar content in the grapes and an excellent level of acidity indicating an exceptional overall balance and long ageing potential.

This is a full bodied vintage Champagne of pedigree; the balance between firm tannins and mature wild fruit is stunning. A serious Champagne, good with desert or as an aperitif!
