The exact composition of this Cuvée is a family secret but it is likely that Pinot Noir dominates 70-80% of the blend with the rest being Chardonnay. The grapes are all from Grand Cru vineyards which were under vine during Churchill’s lifetime and it is only made in the very best vintages. The 1998 vintage shows all the hallmarks of a truly outstanding year with high natural sugar content in the grapes and an excellent level of acidity indicating an exceptional overall balance and long ageing potential.

Red, with slight signs of bricking. Nose of graphite, mint, and slate. Lovely St. Estephe feel. On the palate, this is silky smooth, with lots of ripeness, and integrated tannins. Excellent deep red and black fruit. Incredible complexity. Sexy, smooth, and suave. Lovely, high quality Bordeaux

The 2000 Lynch Bages is a force Majeur, it's a multifaceted, succulent wine with juicy black fruit and liquorice on the palate and a long and demure finish. Drinking beautifully now but could also be cellared.

The 94 Latour is a lovely work of art, with deep complex aromas of cigar box, earth and dark cassis, with similar flavours being reflected on the palate. It is both mature and youthful and fabulous with chocolate.

Robert Parker refers to this wine as "perfect". It is certainly fabulous with a velvety palate, well integrated tannins and layers of ethereal blackcurrant. Outstanding and a great accompaniment to Christmas dinner

2000 has turned out to be a colossal example of Chateau Margaux that is tasting even better from bottle than it was from cask. Only 40% of the crop made it into this 2000 Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.

What can we say about this wine except, Wow! It is positively orgasmic with a nose that is worth its weight in gold and a palate and a finish which is to die for. Delicious with a good hearty lamb stew!
