On the palate, tart black cherry along with hints of cranberry and plum fruit shines through but doesn’t overpower the balanced flavors of earth, exotic sweet spice, toasted oak and mocha.

The little extra rounding from the Merlot adds a plumy mid-palate weight to this richly spicy and expressive wine. Comenge was consecrated by offering some of the biggest bargains of the cult region of Ribera del Duero. Biberius is a tasty Tempranillo matured only four months in oak barrels. It is a soft and silky wine with great fruit and freshness.

What can we say about this wine except, Wow! It is positively orgasmic with a nose that is worth its weight in gold and a palate and a finish which is to die for. Delicious with a good hearty lamb stew!

The 2000 Lynch Bages is a force Majeur, it's a multifaceted, succulent wine with juicy black fruit and liquorice on the palate and a long and demure finish. Drinking beautifully now but could also be cellared.

Decanted for one hour - it really needed longer. Deeply coloured core, fading to a pink-red rim. It opens up to offer aromas of warm blackcurrant fruit, with a gentle twist of liquorice. Medium body, with plenty of spicy grip pervading the midpalate and finish. Nicely balanced. Very good value for what is a great vintage.................buy for Xmas!!!

A youthful, glossy, cherry-red hue. Rather earthy, deeply organic nose, not particularly open. Seems a little hot here, with some baked fruit alongside the notes of undergrowth. A huge amount of tannin, round and firm structure, quite an attractive flesh though, but the tannins dominate in a severe fashion.

The Chateau lies east of St-Emillion. The wine is a blend of 75% Black Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc. The vintage has a deep and dense purple colour. It is structured, highly developed and full in the mouth. This vintage is of rare elegance for 2007 and brings together, in perfect balance, the characters of the best vintages.

Côteaux du Lyonnais is a little known appellation in Gamay territory and the wines have an affinity with their Beaujolais neighbours. Franck Decrenisse makes some of the best, light, rounded and with full of berry flavours. A lovely steak wine.

This Cote Roannaise Gamay has purity, depth, and balance and is certainly finer than any Beaujolais available at the price. The Sérol family work in conjunction with the great three Michelin starred restaurant 'Troisgros' and provide some of their house wines.

Spicy, rich, textured, refined yet fruity, with notes of mulberry and dark cherry. This is probably the best table wine in Portugal.

A deep burgundy red colour. On the nose are bright, clear aromas of strawberry and ripe cherry, plus something a bit earthy. The wine is light in body and medium in finish. It shows off traditional pinot noir notes of cherry and mushroom, and has an overall smokiness.

La Dame de Montrose is the second wine of Second Growth estate Chateau Montrose, and produced a real beauty here. Made of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, this is a plush and sexy La Dame.

The wine has a deep cherry red colour with a nose of ripe fruit that is rich and spicy. The palate reveals a good solid red wine with pleasant tannins.

This Autumn-warming red comes from a 40ha estate in the heart of Provence close to the beautiful sleepy village of le Luc. Predominantly Syrah, with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a wonderful warm and rich wine with a structure that will also reward ageing. Displaying aromas of summer fruits and spice this is an ideal partner for grilled meats and a variety of cheeses

If you like the exotic, this wine will satisfy, it's sexy, suave, rich and flavourful with hints of dark chocolate, tobacco and deep dark fruits. This is beautiful, particularly with meat or cheese.

Hand-picking, low yields, minimum racking and astute use of new oak are what give the wines their intensity and discreet elegance. The wines have a striking purity of fruit and are beautifully understated, with great longevity.

This particular wine is only produced in years when the Pinot Noir grapes reach perfect maturity. The wine derives from the following holdings: Les Bressandes, Les Chaumes, Les Pougets, Les Perrières and Les Grèves, all of which are planted with vines with an average age of over 40 years.
After about 10-12 months of ageing, each cask is then meticulously tasted and only the finest ones, showing the best colour, bouquet and capacity to age, will be blended to make Château Corton-Grancey.

This wine is only produced when the Pinot Noir grape reaches perfect maturity and the 1993 is "perfect". The purity of the wine is sublime, with red fruit and spice on the nose and the palate. Simply divine!
