‘Le Fou’ translates as ‘The Madman’, as it has long been thought only a madman would try to produce the perfect Pinot Noir in southern France. Obviously fuller than Pinot Noir from Burgundy, it has warm, ripe cherry fruit, is intense and sweet with a savoury twist. Raspberry and gamey on the nose, it has an almost graphite character with violets and blue berries. Gentle acidity with light and tasty tannins add balance to this smooth, appealing red. It’s a wine that gets you thinking… with layers of really lovely fruit, it’s very drinkable and perfect if you prefer a riper, fruitier style of Pinot.

Fresh, juicy, plump fruit with hints of violets and red fruits on the nose and a supple, smooth, lush palate almost southern Rhône in its warm, sweet-fruited style but with a lovely twist of acidity on the finish

"Bright and clean dark berry fruit. Not at all confected, but warm, sweet and welcoming. Incredibly drinkable, with the sensation of biting into a ripe strawberry and letting the juice run down your chin. Fresh, bright and superb value" Judges Comments, The Wine Merchant 'Top 50'

Paler ruby than some earlier vintages due to the extreme proportion of Grenache, the nose is however as explosive, plush and opulent as ever, layered with exotic spice, cracked black pepper and of course streaked with crushed vanillin. The palate is instantly appealing, polished and smooth on entry but steeped in depth and texture as the flavours swirl around, lengthen and delight. The lasting impression is satisfying - a big, oppulent and sweet Grenache driven wine with obvious oak quality, great structure, length and finish.

This is the first Pinot Noir that we have imported directly to the UK and we're delighted that it comes from Matthew van Heerden along with his superb Chardonnay. Like the Chardonnay, only 3 barrels were produced and we've brought just 240 bottles to the UK. Made with fruit from Elgin which is rapidly establishing itself as one of the cooler climates in South Africa this is a delicious, crunchy Pinot that has an enticing savoury edge. Multifaceted and elegant, we're in for a treat as this wine matures.

This Grenache from Carsten Migliarina continues the wave of delightfully elegant Grenache styles now emerging from the Swartland and beyond. There's an exceedingly pretty nose of red fruits, think strawberry and raspberry, with a fleeting floral component. Juicy, fresh and succulent on the palate with just enough tannin to offer some support. Delicious!

Attractive, aromatic nose of cherries, plums and a little clove. Ripe yet elegant flavours with a silky texture, backed up with some succulent oak spice and pepper on the finish. Complex and confident, this is delicious to enjoy now but will age well over the next 5-8 years.
