Our 'go-to' Champagne!A fine champagne made in the classic tradition of the champagne houses of Aÿ, principally Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with some Pinot Meunier and matured in cool chalk cellars before release.
The small appellation of Côteaux de Giennois lives in the shadow of its neighbour, the renowed Pouilly-Fume, its wines often slip under the radar and are hence excellent value. The classic gooseberry fruit on the nose is intense yet restrained, and leads into a palate bursting with flavours of lime and nettle, delivered with a clean and crisp feel.
Wonderful, creamy wine...Castelcerino but slightly more refined and mineral-driven on the palate. Like Filippo says, pair with all kinds of seafood.
Grenache is by far the largest variety of Domaine Colombette . Rosé is often considered one summer wine, but this is a perfect lunchtime drink whatever the weather! . It was won the most medals in competitions including the " Mondial du Rosé " but especially in the regional competition varietal wines where it was awarded silver and bronze, five gold medals and two strokes of the heart over the past ten years!
This is the first Pinot Noir that we have imported directly to the UK and we're delighted that it comes from Matthew van Heerden along with his superb Chardonnay. Like the Chardonnay, only 3 barrels were produced and we've brought just 240 bottles to the UK. Made with fruit from Elgin which is rapidly establishing itself as one of the cooler climates in South Africa this is a delicious, crunchy Pinot that has an enticing savoury edge.
Have you ever tried a Picquepoul noir!! The Picquepoul rose has a delicate nose of cherry blossom, strawberries and peaches. The palate is wonderfully fresh with summer berry flavours and notes of crushed rose petals.
Spicy red and black fruits including sweet cherries and plums are evident on the nose and on the palate together with the rich, sweet raisins that you would expect from Amarone. The finish is long with both fruit and spice. The tannins are soft and the wine lovely and smooth.
The elegant Sauvignon Blanc is alive with aromas of stone-fruit and minerals with flavours of guava and lime, one sip and you're up, up and away!
Lightly oaked, supple, clean-lined Chardonnay with floral and tropical notes on the nose and tropical fruit on the palate typical of the character of this hot vintage. Best drunk within the year while it's still fresh and bright. 85/100
